Souman Bose (born 24th August) is an actor predominantly known for his work in popular bangla web series, as well as offbeat feature length and short films.

Bose is also an independent filmmaker, visual artist and a film producer. His work has been lauded by film critics at The Times of India, The Indian Express, Hindustan Times, Film Companion & various other reputed dailies.

Souman Bose has received acclaim for his performances in leading roles in films & shows such as Byadh (hoichoi) , Rawhoshyo romancho series 1 (hoichoi), bhalobashar shohor 2, Bus Stop (Zee5 premium), In their life (addatimes), Brohmbhodoityo (hoichoi), Liplock (addatimes), Nirbandham'er jora khun (Zee5), Mithye (hoichoi), K'ash / puff (indie feature), Kuheli (A8), & was also seen in interesting supporting roles or extended cameos in films like Abhijaan:Soumitra Chatterjee Biopic, Zombiesthaan (svf movies), Dhanbad blues (mx), Family Album (hoichoi), RRS 3 (hoichoi)

His film Bus Stop was ranked #1 in the list of top 10 most watched bangla films on the platform zee5 premium.

He has essayed the character of the legendary writer Nirmalya Acharya in Abhijaan: The Soumitra Chatterjee Biopic.

Bose has also written, produced, directed & acted in a bunch of independent and experimental short films, feature films and documentaries including the 2013 indie feature ‘K’ash (puff)’ [touted as Kolkata’s first mumblecore feature film by The Village Voice, New York]

Souman had produced the season 1 of Rahasya Romancho Series, which is now a major Webseries franchise in bangla and has been dubbed in other languages as well, making it also a popular show nationally. Mx player ranked season 1 of the show, in the list of 30 most popular shows, internationally streaming on their platform. Popular national YouTubers like Filmy Indian ( amongst others ) have lauded the show as well.

Souman Bose’s recent release as an actor is the path breaking thriller ‘Byadh’ where two detectives investigate the reason behind the serial killing of sparrows & the concerning motive behind the strange act. Souman has also produced the series & is the first work of fiction that deals with the serial killing of sparrows. The show has received rave reviews from Film Companion, ET Times, The Times Of India, High On Films, Sangbad Pratidin & many other reputed dailies, critics & film fans.

As a visual artist, Bose has had 3 solo art exhibits.

Souman occasionally writes poetry, screenplays & has three novels published on Amazon. Two of them in a film screenplay format. Namely, ‘Cut!’ (wr.2010. pub.2020) & ‘Mastercook Of Basanti’ (wr.2016. pub.2020) & the most recent one is the short fiction “Chocolate Nirvana” (pub.2022), that’s written like a journal.
