Sumeet was born in an illustrious music family, custodians of centuries old ‘Gauhar Vani’ Dhrupad tradition, The Darbhanga Gharana. Maternal Grandson of PadmaShree Late Pt Siyaram Tiwari, one of the most successful exponents of Dhrupad and Great Grandson of music genius Bihar Ratna Late Pt Ram Prasad Pandey, Sumeet received music in family legacy. He started learning Indian classical music at a tender age from his grandfather, Sh. Birendra Mohan Pandey and went on to complete Sangeet Prabhakar (B.A) and Sangeet Bhaskar (M.A.), both with first division from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad and Prachin Kala Kendra Chandigarh, respectively. Presently, he is receiving advance training of Dhrupad from living legend, Dhrupad Maestro, Pt Abhay Narayan Mallick, Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee and top grade AIR artist
