About me

My name is Soumyarka Gupta. I go by the name Shom, for ease of pronunciation. I have over 13 years of theatre experience and have been a part of several shot films as well. I was a part of Guns and Gulaabs, a Netflix series directed by Raj & DK of The Family Man fame. I am also a qualified Krav Maga instructor, a self defence and combat form, originally from Israel. Additionally, I am a scriptwriter and copywriter and have written over 30 TV commercials and over 80 corporate films and biographical short films. I have lived in several parts of the country - Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Amravati, Bhubaneswar, Jalgaon, Gurgaon, and Ahmedabad, giving me a unique understanding of how people from different places behave and finer cultural nuances. I am also fluent in the HYDERABADI HINDI dialect. Though I am based in Delhi, I also have residences in Mumbai and Kolkata.

This was a play produced by Shapno Ekhon, a leading theatre group based out of New Delhi. It focuses on the last 6 days of Dashrath's life after Rama leaves for the vanvaas. My role was that of Dashrath's charioteer who has grown up with the king and has a great amount of influence in the palace. It was a play that questioned a lot of the established narrative. My role is that of the enforcer for one of the biggest drug cartels in 80s India. I have scenes with Rajkummar Rao, Adarsh Gourav, Jogi Mallang, Satish Kaushik and Vipin Sharma, among others. This is a series that is scheduled to release on Netflix and has been directed by Raj & DK under the D2R banner. My role was that of a person who facilitates organ transplants, charging the families of the receivers a major amount of money, and paying some money to the donors' families. It was a shady character where there was a lot of money exchanging hands. It was a short film made during the lockdown period where scenes were shot remotely from home.
